A wine bar with a point of view

The Independent Wine Co. is your community wine bar.

Guided by a unique point of view, the wines we offer are not just the standard Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Zinfandel—instead, they’re personal, speaking directly to the experiences and interests of the owners.

In that spirit, you can expect new glasses and bottles often: everything from an Italian Trebbiano to a Pinot Gris from Oregon could make the menu. Whatever the selections, wines at The Independent are approachable, pleasurable, even crushable, and most of the time, affordable.

We know our wines, and we’ll happily share what we know while always encouraging guests to explore and have fun, perhaps widening their wine “comfort zone” and finding pleasure in a glass that they didn’t expect. Ask us as many questions as you like, but don’t feel obligated to make it academic. Enjoying wine should not be work.

The Independent is your community wine bar, after all, where you can enjoy a glass of something good and share a snack or two with friends.

Much like a Spanish tapas bar or an Italian enoteca, The Independent Wine Co. offers a curated selection of small plates, all house-made, with wine pairing in mind. Like our wine selections, the small plates turn over vigorously.

Depending on what’s in season and what we’re pouring, dishes might include Warm Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam with mushroom conserva, Bellwether Farms fresh ricotta with burst cherry tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil on house-made sourdough toast, pork belly with soy gastrique and pickled Asian pear, almond cake with fresh berries, or whatever else we have a taste for!
